Weddings

Full Circle, From Seed to Vase

From a flower farming perspective, the creative process of cultivating unique, seasonal wedding flowers can begin a year or more in advance. When I’m planning my crops and working in the field, I’m thinking of the couples that I’ve spoken with, knowing that the lives of the flowers that I grow will be well-lived when they serve to bring joy to occasions such as these. I am humbled and honored when I am chosen by a couple as their Flower Farmer and Florist, and trusted to decorate the space for a ceremony and celebration that will hold so much meaning for everyone involved.

The majority of the flowers that I use in weddings are flowers that I have grown, but when I need to supplement with blooms or foliage from another farm, I source from SLO County first, then California farms with a preference for Organic flowers. Being mindful of the carbon footprint of the conventional floral industry, I do not work with international imports or flowers that are not seasonally available in our region.

Ready to Dig In?

Wedding planning is super exciting, but with a lot of details and ideas swirling around, it can get complicated and confusing, I get it. First and foremost, I’m a farmer, and on a flower farm, efficiency is EVERYTHING.  So with that in mind, I’ve done my best to eliminate the guesswork, provide transparent pricing and streamline the planning process.

  1. Your first step is to read about the three different offerings: Full Service Wedding Flowers, À la Carte Wedding Flowers, and DIY Bulk Blooms and Foliage and decide what’s best for you and your budget.
  2. Once you’ve decided which route you want to take, you’ll fill out an Inquiry Form where you’ll let me know what you have in mind for your flowers, as well as important booking and contact information for your date and venue.
  3. Based on the information you provide on your Inquiry Form, we can set up a phone call or in-person consultation, after which I’ll create an Estimate for you to review, along with a Contract Agreement for the type of service you choose. Your date will be penciled in for 14 days while you review those two documents.
  4. In order to lock in your date on my calendar, you’ll need to send in the contract and non-refundable retainer within 14 days of receiving the Estimate.
  5. We will check-in one month prior to your date to make any final adjustments to your Estimate and to confirm pick-up or delivery for À la Carte or DIY orders, or any other timeline-related details for Full Service florals.
  6. Final payment is due two weeks prior to your date.
  7. Party and enjoy your beautiful flowers! Unless otherwise specified, all the glassware belongs to you, and your guests can take home arrangements at the end of the night, or we will clean up and donate them to a local women’s shelter.
  8. Return any rentals to the studio by 5pm on the first workday following your event.
  9. Stay connected on social media, and tag @farmermaidflowers in your floralicious posts!
  10. Swing by a Farmer’s Market to say hi whenever you’re in town!
